I don't usually read page-turners, because they keep me from getting my own work done. Well, I hope you're happy, Ms. Rawlings, because while I was reading The Murder Lover, my laundry piled up, the groceries didn't get bought, the weeds didn't get picked, (and a few of my husband's needs went unmet!). Rachel Crowne, an investigative reporter, becomes involved in finding the murderer of two women. Both women have been strangled, and there are several suspects. The mystery itself is well done. The characters are well developed and believable. But what makes this novel stand out in the mystery genre is its Jewish heroine. Rachel, while not religious, has strong feelings for her heritage. Her observatiions of Jewish life and rituals give wonderul insights to the nonjewish reader.
