Mosbys Handbook of Patient Teaching, second edition, is a unique and comprehensive handbook of information for patient teaching. Approximately 175 of the most common diseases, disorders, and treatments are presented in alphabetical order for quick reference and ease of use. An outline format provides the definition, a listing of signs and symptoms, complications, diagnostictests, and treatment. An extensive section on home care accompanies each entry.
The revision focuses on updating content throughout, particularly in the diagnostic and treatment sections. There is an emphasis on patient education as it relates to discharge and home care. The patient audience is adult, but key issues for special populations, i.e. geriatric patients, are highlighted. The second color helps to highlight important warning signs. Great reference book

This book really helped me prepare for a first semester nursing class that required writing a care plan and teaching plan in the final. The book has most of the more commonly seen diseases, but loses a star because it lacks anything too exotic. Overall, a great primer for developing teaching plans and extermely helpful with the basics.
