On the edge of civilisation there is an enclave of creatures from myth and legend, of monsters that haunt the darkest dreams of mankind. River is on a road trip with his frat brothers when they stumble across MonsterVille.

They are taken by the monsters and raffled off into slavery.

River is won by Mellie, a woman more human than monster who struggles with the burden of having a human life on her hands. She doesn't want to kill him, she doesn't want him at all.
