Embarassed to admit, I just discovered Laurence Shames. Now I am obsessed. His writing is just as described by critics: literate, hilarious, smart, etc., etc.
All true.
Just received this book today. Half finished. Prescient, of course, but GOOD. In a reader sort of way. It isn't a pot-boiler-page-turner type of book. It's a "this guy can WRITE!" sort of page turner.
You know how many authors you just feel like they are ***trying*** to write? Like it's almost embarrassing to read the next word, it's so forced?

And I'm not saying his plots aren't interesting. They are page turning on their own. But don't you love it when a good story is written by a good writer?
I'm also in the middle of his non- fiction, The Hunger for More. Excellent. And waiting none too patiently for three more copies of his Florida caper series. I was so sad when the first one ended.
You'll love this book.
