Here is a resource book that no one interested in painting in watercolor should be without. With a simple and direct approach, the author covers color theory in general and then describes in detail... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a wonderful book. I enjoy the chosen colors for the mixtures created. This book is a perfect complement to others. For key colors it shows how the mixtures (not glazes) vary by percentages used. The examples of how these mixtures are used in existing paintings is inspiring and illustrative. I love this book and use it often. All levels of watercolor painters could benefit from it. The book is a perfect complement the the simmilarly delightful book "Watercolor Artists Guide to Exceptional Color", which shows a wide range of painting subjects and the types of extraordinary color combinations (showing mixtures as well as glazes) that enable acheiving the desired results. It is also a complement to the rather technical and thorough book (while thorough, does not have illustrations like the one being recommended here) "Watercolor Mixing Directory", which shows 60/40 mixtures of 18 colors and also shows how glazing varies for each of the combinations versus mixing on the palette. These three books DO NOT DUPLICATE each other.
