This is not the first of Mildred Colvin's books I've read. Any time a reader returns to the same author it's a sign of good writing. I enjoy Ms. Colvin's flowing, captivating style. With the first paragraph she hooks her readers, and her Missouri Brides Trilogy is no exception. Each novella, Cora, Eliza, and Deborah, is filled with charm, romance, and downright delightful storytelling. However, there is just enough action and intrigue to call these stories more than "simple, sweet romances". In this day of rush-rush, it is a wonderful thing to find a cozy book, a snug blanket, and a comfy sofa in which to recline while reading one of Mildred Colvin's books.
