A CIA asset carrying highly classified information disappears when her plane is shot down over Burma. Two paramilitary rescue teams are sent to track her but are compromised, captured or killed.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I too have read over 100 Bolan-related books (that is, Don Pendleton-branded books), and I agree this one ranks among the best. I thought the first few pages of chapter two could have been handled better--introducing Bolan into the story felt a bit like the mission briefing in a video game--but after that the book takes off and is one of the best Bolan adventures I've read in years. I couldn't recommend this book more highly.
DOUBLE CROSSED IN BURMA

As stated in other reviews, I have shelves full of the GOLD EAGLE books Mack Bolan, Phoenix Force, Able Team, and Stony Man, 20 years or more, and I enjoy most of them. This book, however, is the equal of many of the better ones. Mack Bolan #360 takes us along with the Executioner to the forested areas of Burma, hiding out to avoid several teams bent on killing us. The teams stalking us are from China, India, Burma, and a drug lord's thugs. They are well trained and well armed and they are very serious about recapturing elint stolen from China that agent Lily Na wants to turn over to Taiwan. The elint has to do with the missle layouts of China and China is very intent that those missle plans nor Lily reach Taiwan. China and the other forces at work against Bolan are being directed by a CIA mole who is only in it for the money. Bolan can not make a move that the trackers do not know about, and on this mission Bolan and his group must keep on the move or perish. Mack Bolan is on his own in Burma yet as he moves along he gains help from an MI6 agent, Nyin, and eventually an Indian named Sikander Singh, both of whom along with Lilly Na, must evade and escape all the other mercs on their trail, or face torture and death. From numerous close calls, to blowing up a train, to destroying a Buddhist temple, the action is almost without let up. The author, Charles Rogers, has written one of the better books in the Bolan saga, one that can rank with some of the best. Readers of the Bolan series will find much in this book to enjoy, from the bonding of Bolan's rag tag group to the tightness of plot and excellent writing. Recent books have suffered critical comments from several reviewers, yet I found this book very interesting as I think most GOLD EAGLE readers of the Executioner series will too. Semper Fi.
