Pretty decent plot - excellent characters - seduction scene dragged - all I could think was "get on with it" - I wanted the answer to the mystery of the killing. Too much schilly, schallying with the hormones. A little more cloak and dagger was needed at the Black Crown. Wonderful description of the Lady of the Butterfly's grotto and altar. James Marquez just couldn't keep his mind on the investigation but made a good run. The Mariposa 50K run through the mountains. Carol Rousseau never really admitted, just hinted at, Miranda's father. Lies, all of them? She was such a sour puss. Someone tries to kill Desi. Plot doesn't heat up until nearly the end. And who the devil was Max Boudrain, the skier who wants Miranda back. Very lame explaination. Who did kill Claude Tsosie? Kind of a marshmellow explaination. Not enough passion for the killing. Ah well, it was entertaining. Recommended for easy reading - just not a keeper. The books had really decent covers. In that they seemed to match the stories. Have fun.
