Just when sleuthing Drs. Plato and Cal Marley decide to cut back on work and focus on family, Cal's life is threatened by an escaped mental patient she helped put away for murder three years ago. Reflecting back on the case, however, leads Cal to believe that maybe not all was as open-and-shut as it had seemed. As the duo's investigation continues, and inconsistencies in the original evidence arise, the escapee's psychiatrist turns up dead...but why? Is it simply revenge, or the act of an unknown killer determined to continue framing an innocent man?
I enjoy mysteries - especially Christmas ones. This was one of the best I have read. The characters were well portrayed. The mystery was done well- truly a mystery. The use of the Christmas season was one of the best I have read - many books only use the season as a back drop & now I find it used as a marketing ploy (Christmas myst. have become a niche market) - this story fully involved the season. To my delighted suprise I find this one of my all-time favorite Christmas mysteries! (I started ready mysteries 30yrs. ago -Christmas mysteries 25yrs ago) Easy-Fast-Fun---You should read it!!
Fifth book in series of medical mysteris is best yet.

Dr. Calista Marley is a deputy coroner while her husband Plato specializes in geriatrics. They are planning a wonderful Christmas in Cleveland where they work until a mentally ill prisoner convicted of being the "West End Strangler" escapes and makes a beeline for Cal who was a witness for the prosecution. This is an exciting tale with great characters and a fair share of laughs in spite of the brutal murders. Most memorable in this book is Jimmy, the escaped prisoner. Pomidor draws a convincing and compassionate portrayal of one mentally ill man. Read this and you'll want to buy the whole series.
