Not Bad

This is an optional textbook for my class. I bought the book b/c the thick books I've read make me confused. I wanted the basic concepts, sth that will get me up and running and this book does the job. It is written concisely and clearly. If you like Mark Minasi's writting style, you'll like this book. Perfect for newbies like me. The book does not include a million screen shots. It does have standard answers for each screen for an installation process/operation procedure.It also has boxes for some important concepts such as the difference between Windows 2000 domains and Active Directory domains. Overall, a good overview of Win2K.

Good resource to Plan Windows 2K Rollout

If you need to upgrade from NT 4.0 domain to Windows 2K, this is the book you are looking for.Right from evaluation to implementation was covered. The langauge used is plain and simple. No unnecessary jargon usage. Wherever the jargons are used (like KERBOROS Security), it was clearly explained. If you have any problem with Active Directory services of Win 2K, pls read this book before asking anybody. This will additionally help you to understand, what kind of compatibility it has with LDAP.Security, is the key to this OS, and you will learn how. All the Executive Services are explained in details, including the plug and play support and HAL. The internetworking with Novell NetWare is also described. A whole part of the book is devoted to the Enterprise networking, which will help even the novice to suggest ways and means to have WAN in place.
