Well worth the money

I loved this book. The pictures are incredible. The interviews are eye opening and well written. I am rereading it to pick up anything I missed the first time. There is a picture of Michael before any plastic surgery that is breathtaking. It is in black and white and although he doesn't seem happy in it his true beauty shines through. It is too bad that he never saw that beauty for himself.
RS is realistic

RS Magazine is trustable. This is the first point, because not everything you read around is trustable. Specially about Michael. Several articles from different times in his life. So, you can read one at a time and not get bored ( as if I could be bored with anything about MJ...). I liked very much.
Beautiful!

I received this book as a gift and despite the deluge of MJ media coverage, bootleg t-shirts, etc. etc. was blown away as soon as I opened it. I've been fortunate enough to see the innards of the Rolling Stone and SPIN offices, and what I thought in each instance was "wow - the archive!" Their collection (so-to-speak) is not apparent when you open a new issue of the mag...or even see the old covers they sometimes throw in the back for nostalgia's sake, but when you open a book like this, Rolling Stone's place as historian is unmistakable. The photographs, stories, and overall design are absolutely outstanding. It also is one of the few books with actual music writing in it, so while you may think you've heard it all, this is the first reverent take I've seen since his death.
Very well-done--but much of this has already been published

This excellent tribute book is one of the best I've come across among the flood of such publications in the months following Michael Jackson's passing. Rolling Stone's writers here present among the most insightful, thoughtful and culturally relevant critiques of Jackson's music and career. Be warned, however--if you purchased their initial tribute issue, you are essentially purchasing it again. That is present here nearly in its entirety, though expanded in parts (notably, and thankfully, in the album articles). There is, of course, a decent amount of additional material to make this worth the purchase. Despite feeling a bit ripped off by this reprinting of a still recent publication, this book on its own would deserve at least the 4 star rating. Included are reprints of three previous Rolling Stone cover stories (from 1971, 1983, and 2009) and tons of great photos, tributes, analysis, chart data, and more. This is a treasure for Jackson fans, but if you already have the Rolling Stone tribute issue or the prior cover issues, there is much less you'll find new here.
