The Best Children's Bible out there-true to scripture
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
This a the best children's bible I have found. The stories hold very tightly to scripture. They are short enough for our 3 year old, but meaningful enough for our 5 year old. They both love to hear stories from this book. The pictures are beautiful and kind of whimsical. It's illustrated to catch the attention of any younger child. In my opinion, Concordia Publishing House makes the best children's resources out there because they are very careful to stay true to scripture. After all, why even read a book to a child if it's not the right story? You won't be disappointed in this book and it's very economical. It covers many familiar, major biblical events to help your child get familiar with them and some of God's verses.
Great for Family Devotions

We read this Bible to my 17 month old son every night and have since he was tiny. It is a part of our bedtime routine. We read one story, talk to him about the Gospel message which that story entails, then let him page through it for a few minutes, pray, and put him to bed. He loves his Bible and asks for it often. We have read it through several times, and it never feels repetitive or "old." Even though it says ages 4-6, we have been using it with him since he was about 3 or 4 months old. It was given to him by his godparents, in honor of his Baptism. My husband and I are both trained in theology, so there are a few moments when we've been disappointed with stories which seem to miss the meaning. For example, in the parable of the sower, the writers use the word "corn" or "plant" instead of "seed." However, much of the meaning comes from Jesus' use of the word "seed." So we just change a word here and there. On the whole though, this is a wonderful first Bible for a child and for a family to use together. It is written so that a child may begin to understand it, but also leaves room for parents to discuss the Gospel message of each story and draw out further meaning. This is a wonderful first Bible for a child, and can grow with them from a young age. We have made it a part of our bedtime routine, and my son loves it. I would definitely recommend this "My First Bible" to any family which wants to create a time of devotion together.
