Young, afraid, and alone, Kyla's life is anything but typical. She is awakened by her mother's voice, telling her that she is in danger, to hide, but her mother is not in the room. Kyla thinks she is dreaming until she hears two gunshots. She hides under a pile of dirty clothes in a built-in hamper in the bathroom, while men drag her mother into the room, asking where Kyla is.

Kyla prays not to be invisible and escape detection. The men leave, taking her mother with them. When it's quiet, she comes out to find that her father is dead. Kyla quickly learns that her mother is not whom she appeared to be and that there aren't many that she can trust.

Kyla springs into action that leads to a thriller of an adventure. Her quest leads to self-discovery as well as learning who she is, where she comes from and why she is so important.
