Canyon School is a historical landmark because it has one of the oldest existing school buildings still being used in Los Angeles. It has served the community well and should be recognized as a perfect example of what a school should be. I am extremely grateful I had the privilege of attending Canyon School when I did. It made me a better person. Of all the teachers I knew and schools I attended after Canyon School, none of them left me with lasting priceless memories like those I cherish from Canyon School. This book is a memoir of Ernest Marquez's time at Canyon School (1930-1936), which includes historic photos and illustrations done by the author at ages 7 and 8 as a student at the school.
