Memoirs of Agrippa is a historical novel that tells the life and adventures of a fascinating and charismatic character. Agrippa, adventurer, player, wasteful, grandson of Herod, an orphan from an early age (Herod executed his father) today is called Agrippa the Great.The plot of the book takes place at the same time as the classic book by Robert Graves, I, Claudius, where Agrippa plays an important role, but in the book Memoirs of Agrippa, Agrippa is the main character.Agrippa lived and was educated from an early age in the imperial court of Rome. He was the best friend of Drusus, the son of Tiberius, Emperor Caligula and Claudius.His uncle Herod Antipas gave him a minor position as inspector of the market of Tiberias so that he could subsist. He was briefly imprisoned for debt, and then spent six months in prison for speaking imprudently against Tiberius.He was released by Caligula who appointed him king. After the murder of Caligula, Agrippa convinced the Roman Senate to recognize Claudius as Emperor.His patriotism as King of Judea prompted him to fortify Jerusalem which caused Claudius to antagonize him with deadly consequences.
