Marvin was a performer with a carnival, but he dreamed of becoming a star on broadway. His carnival friends were a loyal elephant, a crying pig, and a complaining tiger. A talent agent found Marvin and arranged for him to audition in New York. Just when Marvin was at the height of his fame and achievement, he realized that he must go back home to his friends and the carnival. When he got back, his friends were happy to see him and Marvin would tell them the stories of his travels and experience on Broadway. There's subtle humor with adult appeal, for example: "With hope in his heart and his agent on his back.." It's a cute story and the pictures are pleasant. Written & illustrated by a mother-son team this is based in part on the author's experience of working with a major Broadway producer. (from the back cover flap of the book.)
