In 1981, photographer, Walter Rabetz, travelled to his home town of New York City, and created a series of photographs of the bridges and tunnels leading to Manhattan, otherwise known as "the City." This group of loving photographs, composed of both portions of the bridge (or tunnel), and the environment in which it existed. By including both elements, the photographs also recorded some of the history of the boroughs, and the time. Looking at them now, we see the cars, the clothes, the stores, the people and the products of that time, some thirty-eight years ago. "Manhattan In The Distance" - both physically, and in the past.
