Brett, a charismatic world-class skier with a playgirl lifestyle . Taylor, a talented and successful physical therapist . One chance meeting and the two women fall head over heels for each other. Passion and the beginning of true love sweep the two off of their feet, but their relationship is ended almost before it has a chance to begin. The two are reunited years later, after Brett's Olympic dreams are shattered along with her body. Battered and broken, relying on alcohol to numb her mind and heart, Brett is slowly killing herself. Unable to refuse Brett's dying mother's request, Taylor agrees to work with Brett to help her regain some of her physical capabilities. Can Taylor overcome her heartbreak and anger long enough to help Brett heal? Will she be able to reach the woman she once knew and help her rekindle the passion that once made her a world-renowned skier? Will Brett have the fortitude to heal her mind and body? Both struggle with past feelings, deeply hidden hurts, anger and resurfacing emotions for each other. Working out their problems requires effort, love, and a little bit of magic.
This is my first reading from Jeane McCann. I looked up the book because I thought the story was interested. I found it to be a fun read and enjoyed the book. I would have liked to see the last few chapters to have been drawn out more but still enjoyed the book. It did seem the last few chapters were rushed and could have used more details for the ending. It left the reader with a few questions not answered or addressed. I will look up other work by the author. Great story and a good read.
Never Assume Anything

Although she's published many books, I've never had the pleasure of reading anything from Jeanne McCann until now. Not sure what to expect, I took my time hoping to learn more about the characters and the author. The story itself is uncomplicated. Brett was once a successful skier with a promising future. She was overwhelmed with feeling for Taylor, a physical therapist and planned to make a life with her. That all ended the day Brett assumed Taylor was unfaithful and the skier had a terrible accident. The accident ruined Brett's career as an athlete, but the emotional scars truly ruined her life. Not knowing what else to do, Brett's mother convinces Taylor to work with her daughter professionally. Reluctant to open old wounds, Taylor agrees and they surprise Brett with their plans for her recuperation. As they work through Brett's physical ailments, including alcoholism, they begin to heal the emotional wounds as well. The worst part is Brett's realization that she assumed wrong when she thought Taylor had been unfaithful. Although the story happens as expected, the characters are a little unexpected. The reader is brought along on an interesting journey as these two intriguing women move forward with their lives. Both learn to live and trust again as they begin to accept past mistakes and open their hearts to a new future. My only criticism of the book is it seems like the author tried to hurry through the last few chapters. A lot happens in these chapters, but they're relatively short and don't seem finished. However, it's still worth reading and enjoying.
Amazing

40 year old aspiring Olympic hopeful Brett Andreson suffers horrible injuries due to recklessly drinking and getting on the slopes to have some fun. Two years later her dying mother contacts Brett's former lover, 34 year old Taylor Aronson who is a world famous Physical Therapist. Six years earlier Taylor lacked the trust to believe her new lover Brett had turned over a new leaf and had left her playgirl ways behind. Taylor abruptly leaves a devastated Brett without allowing Brett to explain her fidelity. Neither woman has moved on emotionally and this is their story. This was a fun quick read set against the gorgeous backdrop of Boulder Colorado. It has stunningly beautiful and elegant women in Brett and Taylor and passionate emotions to satisfy the reader. Don't miss the author's other standout novels - Family Love, Hawaiian Love, Real Love, Love Times Four, A Love Not Lost, Lucky in Love, Wise Love.
