The new venture started with optimistic hope for salvation from the poor economy in Ecuador, in the 1970s. When the first barrel of petroleum emerged, a sudden and almost spontaneously new society erupted in the Ecuadorian region of the Oriente. When the installations of the first perforation tower, the first camp, the first church, the first cabaret with its multicolored lights, and as new life and activities took place, the oil production, changed the forest, forever. Before the oil industry came, the forest was a unique, beautiful, and a wonderful place, a home to the native people and to the wildlife. Sadly, the oil industry brought in a vortex, which wrecked the tropical forest. From that moment, the jungle region was affected with major changes in its rivers, towns, villages, its people, and its wildlife.

The wildlife such as the monkeys and other animals, now sleepless, witnessed the new oil culture changes, which seized their spaces, just as it did with the people in the area. They were displaced and their lives were stolen. The change left the bad taste in their mouths and the odor of the dry and sandy smell of the petroleum in their noses that they would never forget.

While in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, and in Houston, United States, other towers and castles were shuffled like a deck of cards, due to the bureaucracy and corrupt framework that they used to administer the new wealth. As conquerors, they were prepared to exploit the "black gold" that was taken with ambition for more dollars. Ecuador engaged into the production according to the law that governs the fascinating oil industry in the modern world, which Ecuador plunged into, and entered, without knowing how to read or write on the subject matter.

Truthful history that has never been told about the exciting oil world, which as a snowball, passed through Ecuador in the 70s, ruining everything it touched. Afterwards and still today, the impact continues to require reconstruction and constant cleanup of everything that was stained with its rolling trail.

The history of the new opulent Ecuador, with its hands full, spent the unexpected dollars, to maintain the new status offered: The Civilization of the XXI Century!

Action, adventure, and suspense, tinted with egotism, shapes the plot that fills the pages of this novel that narrates with transparency. The story is told from true historical events that happened in a country that lost time, the chosen country that - lost. Some people say that the road reconstruction is stagnant, and, worse - that the country suffered setbacks.

Some individuals' names as well as some foreign characters are interwoven with national ones, to advance - as in a slow fire - a new spontaneous culture that sprang from the insides of the earth as gooey black petroleum, of a mysterious shine, which attracts and stains anyone who touches it or gets deceived.
