True love doesn't always follow a script.... Tracy Vance's love life is a total flop. Sure, she has a cool job as a tour guide at a real Hollywood movie studio, but when it comes to her personal life, she can barely get her crush, Connor, to notice her. Then Tracy gets a brilliant idea: Why not win Connor's heart with some help from the big screen? Taking her cues from her favorite chick flicks, Tracy puts Operation Ro Com into action, and it actually seems to work But Tracy soon realizes that getting the leading man isn't the same as keeping him. Maybe things never work out like they do in the movies--or do they?
Typical teen romantic comedy, but definitely one that will make you laugh and believe in a little love!

Tracy is working as a tour guide at Sovereign Studios the summer before she starts at UCLA as a freshman. Though there have never been a draught of first dates for Tracy, there is always something that leaves her not wanting a second date with prospective beaus. When Connor walks into the commissary, she tells her friend Liz that she's been going about things the wrong way. There must be something to all the romantic comedies that the public soaks up at the cinema. After a DVD festival and taking notes, Tracy and Liz put Operation Ro Com into action. After a failed attempt at a "meet cute," Tracy finally gets a date with Connor. With the help of Liz and Dex (Liz's twin brother), the three of them plan the perfect date. Things don't go quite as Tracy envisioned them, but Connor admits to having had a fantastic time. This leads to a second date, and doubts for Tracy. For some reason, she just doesn't feel the magic with Connor. Through multiple attempts at romance, there still aren't sparks for Tracy, and she knows she has to end it. Again, nothing goes as planned, but maybe there is romance in sight for Tracy after all. LOVE, HOLLYWOOD STYLE is Mr. Ruditis' first foray into the Simon Romantic Comedies arena. For fans of this series, this book does not disappoint. It moves quickly (I read it in one sitting) and has a happy ending. For those familiar with the Simon Romantic Comedies, the premise is familiar, but the misfortunes that befall Tracy along the way are what make the story so much fun. This is another great addition to the series and leaves the reader wanting a happily-ever-after for themselves. Reviewed by: Jaglvr
