Read Sally's story in this young adult companion to Tim Burton'sThe Nightmare Before Christmas written by New York Times best-selling author Shea Ernshaw. Jack and Sally are "truly meant to be" ... or are they? Sally Skellington is the official, newly-minted Pumpkin Queen after a whirlwind courtship with her true love, Jack, who Sally adores with every inch of her fabric seams-- if only she could say the same for her new role as Queen of Halloween Town. Cast into the spotlight and tasked with all sorts of queenly duties, Sally can't help but wonder if all she's done is trade her captivity under Dr. Finkelstein for a different cage. But when Sally and Zero accidentally uncover a long-hidden doorway to an ancient realm called Dream Town, she'll unknowingly set into motion a chain of sinister events that put her future as Pumpkin Queen, and the future of Halloween Town itself, into jeopardy. Can Sally discover what it means to be true to herself and save the town she's learned to call home, or will her future turn into her worst... well, nightmare?
Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: Long Live The Pumpkin Queen

What a great way to honor Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas! Shea Ernshaw did a fabulous job bringing back the old characters everyone knows and loves. She also did a great job with the narrative.
The story starts with Sally becoming Sally Skellington, the first and only Pumpkin Queen–so romantic. I enjoyed the parts where Jack and Sally Skellington get married and then go on their honeymoon in Valentine’s Town. Now that Sally’s made queen and returns to Halloween Town, many of the ghouls, ghosts, and monsters expect a lot of responsibility from her. But the pressure of her queenly duties and the townsfolk crowding her are too much, and she runs away with Zero, planning to escape back into Valentine’s Town. That is, until Zero leads Sally further into the woods, finding a moon-shaped door carved into a tree that leads to Dream Town. How could Sally have possibly known that opening this door would change her life, Jack’s life, and the Halloween Town folk’s lives forever?
“Nothing is how I thought it would be” – Sally (p. 157). This statement can describe Sally’s mindset about being the Pumpkin Queen and her decisions throughout the book. Another of Sally’s great lines is, “Even if my seams can be broken, that doesn’t mean I will be” (p. 24). I enjoyed reading Sally’s journey and how she was forced to transition from an invisible living ragdoll to Jack’s wife as the Pumpkin Queen. She struggles with her confidence until the time comes when she realizes she must save her husband and monstrous subjects. It had some twists and turns, some I didn’t see coming.
Long Live The Pumpkin Queen should be the sequel movie to The Nightmare Before Christmas. I would appreciate it if someone could make that happen; my sister and I would watch it a million times. The ending has a nice, sweet message. I highly recommend any Tim Burton fans to read this novel and see how it links with the movie.
