Simple elegance in explaining a difficult topic: Logic
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
I had the privilege of studying Logic under the author of this study guide, Dr. Harrison Hall, professor emeritus of philosophy at the University of Delaware. He told us we only needed Kahane's Logic & Philosophy textbook (7th ed., 1995) and not his study guide because everything in the book would be part of his lectures. However, I bought it and I am glad I kept it. Dr. Hall had an uncanny ability to explain the difficult subject of logic in an elegant, simple yet sophisticated way. I especially admire the strategy hints for constructing proofs and his candid suggestions for finding the easiest solutions in the quest to avoid long proofs. And the way he suggests translating English sentences into symbols for predicate logic was very helpful as well. I highly recommend this book along with Kahane's text.
