"Little Bear Learns to Fly" is a wonder-filled adventure of a little bear that longs to fly. Big Bear, with the help of a bunch of balloons, takes Little Bear on a ride in the sky above a merry-go-round. There he meets a group of high-flying friends and asks them, one by one, how they learned to fly. Each new friend shows Little Bear their own very fun and creative way of "lifting themselves up". Wise and humorous, they inspire Little Bear to discover the special gift within himself that makes his wish to fly come true. All of the artwork in this book is taken from drawings done by twelve year-old Jennifer Purvis in the last six months of her life. Jennifer died from cystic fibrosis in 1985. Inspired by her drawings, her mother, Joan, has written this delightful and uplifting story that will help children discover and share the unique qualities within themselves.
