LIFE's editors have re-visited and updated more than half of the book, refreshed the photography with new material [ including more full-colour pictures) enlivened the design and format, and added not only new photos but also text and quotations that set the proper home-and hearth tone, then carry it straight through the book. The best "Mum" images from LIFE'S storied pictorial archive are here, as are disarming shots taken by the man in the street. The book represents a tribute to the bond each of us shares with our mothers, and also serves as an inspiration. It urges us to remember the best of times, the golden moments. It spurs us to remember the love.
I browsed through this at a bookstore and simply fell in love with the pictures! This is a photographic tribute to motherhood - there are pictures of moms and kids at play, in key life events, on the way to school etc. There are celebrity moms, e.g. Princess Di, and also ordinary mothers. The photographs are enhanced by the insertion of quotes and explanatory text. These photos put a smile on my face and made me feel blessed to be a mother, and reminded me of memories of my own mother -those snapshots that I carry in my heart of special moments shared between my mom and me - they may never have been captured on camera, but those memories live on in my heart forever. This might be a nice gift for Mother's Day, perhaps accompanied with a card and pictures of one's own moments with one's mom.
Gorgeous Photos! A Great Gift

I bought this book as a gift for my mother, and I just know she'll love it. The photos are truly lovely, and the quotes endearing and funny. I was brought to tears several times by the book, and would definitely recommend it.
Remember your mom when you were little

I just bought this book for my mom for Mother's Day. It is a fairly short book, but an appropriate length for the subject matter - who needs 500 photos of mothers with their children? The photos range from very poignant to just plain silly, and span the latter half of the twentieth century. It makes a nice little gift, evoking forgotten memories in both my mother and I, and reminding everyone of the simple moments that make a mother the wonderful person she is.
