"I don't know about you, but I've always been really curious about what other people eat. Being nosy is how I've got some of my best ideas as a chef-and discovered some of my favorite things to eat." -From the Introduction to Let's Eat by Jamie Oliver, The Naked Chef A beautifully photographed introduction to the way children from around the world eat What we eat says a lot about who we are and where we come from. The five children in this book live in very different countries, and they each have their own ideas about what tastes good. But they have lots in common, too: they all go food shopping and help with the cooking, share mealtimes with their families, eat special foods to celebrate, and have things they love to eat and things they definitely don't. Endorsed by Jamie Oliver, The Naked Chef , this vibrant companion book to Wake Up, World is a friendly and fascinating introduction to the way people eat and live around the world.
In "Let's Eat," we are introduced to five children -- from South Africa, Mexico, France, India, and Thailand -- and see what a day in their life is like. How do they live? What do they eat on a normal day? What do they eat for a celebration? Through the vehicle of food, we come to better understand daily life for these children, whether they have running water, how much cooking and grocery shopping they do, and what flavors they enjoy. Also included is a recipe from each.

Five children presented in Beatrice Hollyer's Let's Eat! represent very different countries and cultures, each with their own ideas about what tastes good. Cultural differences and similarities in cooking and foods are explored in chapters which not only cover dishes themselves, but shopping and mealtime preparations and rituals intrinsic to each country. South African, Mexico, Thailand, France, and India are the countries profiled in a colorful comparison of food and cultures.

In this book we meet five children from various countries in the world. They walk us through a day in their lives. The focus is mainly on the foods they enjoy with their families. Also included in the book are 5 recipes so that you can sample the foods the children enjoy. The full color photos of the children from each country help to bring the story to life. This book is a good start to introduce culture and geography. The most important theme in the book is that people are the same all all over the world! Everybody Eats!!! I highly recommend it!
