Every few years, the Seisou Academy music competition offers students fame, fortune...and love? Every few years, the prestigious Seisou Academy holds a prominent musical competition, and only the very best students at the Academy are allowed to participate. Though all are eligible to apply, only students from the music department actually make it to the competition...until now. Kahoko is a normal student in the General Education department with absolutely no musical skill, but all that changes when she catches a glimpse of an elusive fairy who lives on campus. The fairy grants Kahoko a magic violin, and before she knows it, she's nominated to participate in the school's music competition with five very attractive boys. Will she win love and fame, or will bitter rivalry rule the day?
It came today and I am so happy about my purchase! The manga was super clean and it had minimal wear to the pages! Pleasantly surprised by how well-kept it was!
A Kid's Review

Age Appropriateness/Objectionable Content: Ages 12+ for brief language, mildly suggestive themes and mild violence I really liked La Corda d'Oro: the artwork is enjoyable, the characters varied, the notes in the back on the classical pieces played were insightful and, perhaps most surprising, the little snips of sheet music shown in the background were accurate. I am a violinist and pianist myself, so the attraction to this series was perfectly natural, and I have only a few complaints. First off, while the depiction of Kahoko's way of holding the violin was most of the time accurate, the violinists out there who read this series may have noticed that the way she and Len hold their bows and where the bows are on the fingerboards don't really make for the 'gorgeous' sound that is implied. But the non-musician folks out there shouldn't be bothered by this; maybe I'm just too much of a perfectionist. *hee hee* Some people may find the 'magical violin' concept a bit far-fetched, but it wasn't a problem for me. Altogether this has been a fun, upbeat series with a good mix of humor, drama, romance and fantasy. Overall, I highly recommend it.
