People fast for many reasons . . . to break an addiction . . . to seek God for healing . . . to discover the answer to a lingering problem . . . and some fast for revival. But the greatest reason to... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I give this book five stars, I would give it more if I could. "Knowing God through Fasting" is one of the most life changing books I have ever read. Mr. Towns talks to us about fasting, but not in the sense of "how to", but in the sense of knowing God and drawing closer to Him. Why do we fast? Do we do it for self gain, to prove a point, to see if we can do it, or because some said it is the right thing to do? No, we fast because we have be called by God to be dependant on Him, to put God first above all else, to show our trust in Him for our lives, to seek His face, that's what this book is about. The first chapter of the book speaks of Emptying, but as Mr. Towns says, "Fasting is emptying your body of food. But in spiritual comparison, you must empty yourself of every barrier to God, so you can be filled with His presence. Our prayer ministry has gone through the book for better understading in our role of going before the Lord for others. The fitness instructor at our church, after reading this book, taught the whole fitness class from this book, because the Holy Spirit spoke to her and said, "You put too much emphasis on the outside of the body and not enough on the inside." She will be teaching to our women's minstry at the first of the year. If you want a straight 'how to' book I suggest God's Chosen Fast by Walls, but if you want a book that gives you spiritual insight on knowing and drawing closer to God through fasting, please read this book. I promise all who do will be blessed.
