This book contains four mini novels. The first starts out at the end of the Civil War in, of course, Key West. Written by a Christian writer, the book does not preach. The characters are believable with human strengths and failings, and you are drawn to them and their stories. There is passion without details you don't need and romance without syrupy mush or contrived "misunderstandings" that go on and on. There is history and exploration of issues of the time, although I felt the characters' attitudes on prejudice and slavery are somewhat liberal for the era, and at times I was jolted by dialogue I felt wouldn't have been used in the 1860's. There are a couple of villains to keep things stirred up and a few skeletons that come out of the closet. All together these are four good stories that you end up glad you read, and looking for others by the same author.
Good read

Lynn Coleman paints a warm, cozy picture of 19th Century Key West. Yet, she portrays the struggles of the day, racism and slavery, in a real and accurate way. You will fall in love with Bea, Ellis, Cook, Lizzy, Mo, Richard & Isabella. Lynn Coleman maserfully tells four separate stories while weaving in characters and place from past tales. Feels like you are reading about old friends.I recommend this book to fans of romance, or plain old fashioned good story telling.
