Very, VERY helpful.

I'm generally a fairly lazy person who crams for tests last minute, and I went to the library a week before my test, and got this book, and several others to help me prepare. I skimmed them all to find the best one, and this book was clearly the winner. It caters to the last-minute student, as well as those who have plenty of time to work on it. It presented information in an orderly way that just made SENSE! Some of the other books I'd checked out (the princeton review, for example) just tried to shove the information at you, and you had to figure it all out on your own. The Kaplan method really helped me on my test, and I used an SAT kaplan book as well, which was also fabulous. A great study book that would be an asset to any student taking the ACT.

Flawless but has its drawbacks

First of all, do not trust the other reviews of this book. One reviewer is mad because the Kaplan book says it has 2 practice tests and 2 more online. The buyer thinks that the book has four so he gets mad and gives the book a poor rating. The other reviewer tries to play this book down and advertise for his own book. I have tried nearly EVERY book for ACT Prep. I recommend this book for a real good prep for ACT. This book has numerous drills designed to help the average student improve his score. Some other books I recommend are THE REAL ACT PREP GUIDE and PRINCETON REVIEW'S CRACKING THE ACT 2010 alongside this book.

Can Help, if you're willing

I barely looked at it, but I learned a couple things from it (the shortest English answer is almost always the correct answer) that bumped me from 95th to 99th percentile. This jump might have been because it was my second time taking the test, but I think this book gave me a bit more confidence.
