I really liked this book. I read it as I prepared to give a talk on Jewish healing, and I found something useful on nearly every page. What I especially liked was the seamless integration of teachings of sages from past centuries with a thoroughly holistic and contemporary view of health and healing. The author even speaks to the importance of taking action to heal our relationship with the natural world, a point often neglected in writings on health. Several chapters clearly demonstrate to the reader that the wisdom of Moses Maimonides, from over 800 years ago, and Reb Nachman of Bratslav, from about 200 years ago, closely parallel some of the most cutting-edge concepts in mind-body medicine. Rabbi Rosman draws on that wisdom to give us practical tools for assessing our own self-care in both physical and spiritual realms. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who is exploring a spiritual perspective on health and healing. While Rabbi Rosman uses concepts from Jewish tradition and words in the Hebrew language, he does so in a way that is accessible and educational to readers at all levels.
