We used this travel guide on a recent trip and found it quite useful in one major respect. The guide not only divides Israel into drive-size sections, it also provides a list of the most important attractions, and how to reach them by auto when one is in a specific area. The list of sights in the Negev, for example, is presented in such a way as to tell travelers the best route to see them. Other guidebooks, unlike this one, list attractions in a given city, town or area, with no mention whatever of the best routes to get to them by auto. Rather, everything in other books is listed by place, and place alone, along with an occasional mention of how to arrive by public bus. But for many many sights in Israel, relying solely on public buses defeats the purpose of visiting: one spends too much time getting from place to place, and not enough seeing sights and meeting people. This is a somewhat dated book, however, the route-style planning it includes is extremely useful for anyone who plans to visit sights outside of Jerusalem and Tev Aviv by rental car. Go for it.
