Themes and topics discussed include identity and communication, intercultural verbal and nonverbal processes and interactions, relationships, and ethics.

The Reader presents a wide-range of articles, showing the permeance of intercultural communication in today's world and in everyday life. Examples of topics included are:

Half of the readings are from non-U.S. authors/scholars, presenting readers with a truly global perspective on intercultural communication.

The Reader may be used as a stand-alone text, an excellent companion to Fred E. Finally a text that gets it right

I have reviewed a number of intercultural communication texts and finally have found one that makes sense, is inclusive, historical, and accurate. I was particularly impressed to read an author who recognizes the offensiveness of using the word, "American" to refer only to those living in the U.S. The word could easily be applied to those in Central, South, and all those in North America. The author's writing style is engaging and commands the reader with powerful examples throughout.
