Right content, right size, simple to undersdand book!

If you ever wondered what the field of Artificial Intelligence is and what it is useful for -- this book is for you! The book goes through a series of AI algorithms, such as neural networks and genetic algorithms, and describes in just the right level of detail how they work and where they can be applied. There isn't a single line of code in that book, yet the concepts behind the algorithms are crystal clear. I am a professional software developer and I did not mind this lack of code because the book gave me precisely what I wanted -- conceptual understanding of the issues involved and how applicable they are in the real world. I read the book from the first page to the last. It is only about 200 pages. Every single page seems to carry useful and simple to understand information. The summary table at the end of each chapter makes it easy to compare and contrast the algorithms. The authors seem very knowledgeable, yet they spare the reader the "tech talk". They are also quite realistic about what exactly can and cannot be applicable in business. This book is as much for business people as it is for techies. I would HIGHLY recommend this book!

In addition, the technologies are described within the context of business problems that they can help solve. This is an extremely clear, well written and well organized text on knowledge gathering systems. Written from a business perspective, it never loses sight of important operational and implementation issues applicable to any industry and treats technology as a mechanism, not as a end unto itself. Truly an excellent book.
