A specific, useful gathering of a form rarely given its own independent recognition

IN PIECES is a fine anthology celebrating modern fragmentary writing the best way: by providing a sampler of fragments from nearly forty different writers. These fragments come from diaries, notebooks and letters and include short prose pieces as well as reflections: they offer up powerful tastes of short ideas and thoughts, gleaning works from all kinds of genres and expressions. an esential literary contribution

A writer friend encouraged me to read this book because I have trouble focusing on traditional storytellling.I took his advise and started reading the different selections represented in this book.I was pleasently surprised at how much I enjoyed the compilation of poems, letters and journal pieces.There was one selection called, Diary ,from a writer named ,"Evans."It appears to be about an experience about two women in Italy.It is a journal entry but reads like one long beautiful poem.I do not know who this writer is or if she has published before, but this selection is really something. I was not able to put it down.I would encourage her to write more.
