There are some things you can't leave behind... In If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch, a broken-down camper hidden deep in a national forest is the only home fifteen year-old Carey can remember. The trees keep guard over her threadbare existence, with the one bright spot being Carey's younger sister, Jenessa, who depends on Carey for her very survival. All they have is each other, as their mentally ill mother comes and goes with greater frequency. Until that one fateful day their mother disappears for good, and two strangers arrive. Suddenly, the girls are taken from the woods and thrust into a bright and perplexing new world of high school, clothes and boys. Now, Carey must face the truth of why her mother abducted her ten years ago, while haunted by a past that won't let her go...a dark past that hides many a secret, including the reason Jenessa hasn't spoken a word in over a year. Carey knows she must keep her sister close, and her secrets even closer, or risk watching her new life come crashing down.
In some ways I had a similar childhood and parts really hit home, I loved this book. I want to follow these girls more!
I ached and rooted for the girls all at once. There is a epilogue I’m trying to track down. I had the hard back and it’s in the paperback, in case it helps anyone!

Emily Murdock shares a wonderful work with us all. If You Find Me is a work of fiction but could be so real to many.
This book held me from the beginning and tug at my heartstrings. I was proud of the these girls who lived the worst and without knowing what the real world had to offer.
Thank you Emily Murdock for sharing your work with us all. I will look forward to reading more from you.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it in 2 days and the characters were smart and funny while also having to deal with a tragic upbringing. The sisterly bond in the story really drew me in and I felt protective over the girls. Also, a plot twist I never saw coming! Definitely recommend this book if you're thinking about purchasing!
