Summer was over. It was time for Ben to go back to school. But all he could think of were the terrible things that might happen. For instance, what if no one remembered him? What if he forgot to get off the bus on the way home? What if the teacher asked him a really hard question? Nothing that anyone said made Ben feel better. And then it was too late. School had begun.... Anyone who has returned to school after summer vacation will know what Ben is going through-and will laugh with delight (and relief) at the happy outcome.
An exceptionally delightful, inventive, and genuinely engaging picture book. Marisabina, please keep writing and drawing; we need you!
I don't want to go back to school
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 25 years ago
My son and I discovered M. Russo's books in the library. He has fallen in love with her stories and keeps asking for more. "I don't want to go back to school" is based on a little boy's fear and insecurity about the first day of school. The topic is simply and clearly managed. Russo's writing style is remarkable because it stimulates conversation about the story and provides me the opportunity to teach my son.
