Book Overview

Internationally known and well-respected, the outstanding Gosling team returns with a new 4th edition of Human Anatomy. Still unique in the field, this text combines colour photographs and full-colour artwork in one convenient resource. The dissections are amazingly clear - some almost 3-D in appearance - and colour-coded artwork next to each photo makes anatomy easy to interpret and identify. The only atlas of human anatomy that illustrates structures using high-quality dissection photographs and accompanying line drawings.Clear, easy-to-understand dissections, reflecting more closely the specimens that medical students are likely to see in the lab and be tested on.Interpretive line drawings next to every photograph allow students to test their knowledge by covering the labels.Colour-coding on interpretive artwork teaches the reader how to differentiate between fat, muscle, ligament, etc.Clinical Skills pages help the reader understand how to apply knowledge of gross anatomy to the clinical setting.Features a slightly larger overall size, with increased font size, shorter paragraphs, and more headings for improved readability throughout.Includes more clinical tips and summary boxes.Introduces more MRI, CT, and plain film images.Replaces cross-sections viewed from above with those viewed from below, keeping current with today's convention.Updates anatomical terminology throughout.Adds specially commissioned, unlabelled prosections to Exam Skills pages for more effective self-assessment on structure recognition.

Very nice text...

I'm just starting my Anatomy Class but I can already tell that this text will be of great benefit for my upcoming prosection.

The Missing Link

Highly recommended. This book is a perfect transition from knowing human anatomical strcutures' in the abstract (functions, innervations, etc.) to identifying (and truly "knowing") anatomy in a real cadaver or body. Using Netter's Clinical, I memorized the basics of human anatomy; using the Gosling Atlas & Text, I deepened my knowledge and learned to identify and properly interpret the real thing, which is, of course, the whole purpose of anatomy!

Everything in graphic photos!!

This book has extremely graphic, close-up and detailed photos of every part of the body. Excellent if you're writing a story about autopsies...or even if you're just curious. There are some clear illustrations, as well. The text is detailed, small, and extremely well organized to coordinate closely with the photos. This book is extremely well-designed, compact, and a great reference. Highly recommended.

Best value for your money

As a beginning student of Anatomy, and not aiming to be an MD, this is an excellent entry level text, that unlike other atlases has adequate descriptive text, has photographs with corresponding figures that are extremely extremely useful, etc. Best value for one's limited $, IMHO.

Anatomy atlas that helps instantly

As a medical student I had a chance to study from quite a few anatomy atlases and can therefore affirm this one is the best choice you have. All doubts and vagueness you might have about different structures positions and relations when learning textual theory, become clear when viewing truly spectacular images which are, unlike doted, numbered and line-crossed ones in many other publications, spotless and have beside standing complementary colour schematic drawing explaining the image.I find fonts, paper used, weight and the way the book "reacts" when leafing through quite likable.
