Colin Thompson's books are mystical and complex, they will appeal to children and adults alike and demand to be returned to as there is always a new image to see . . . something more to catch the eye.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book is absolutely magical. I actually felt my imagination unfurling as I turned each page. The illustrations are deeply layered and compellingly detailed, riddled with trivia for adults as well as kids. You will see something new in the pictures each time you read it. It's the story of a little boy who lives in the tiny civilization that inhabits the library books after dark. One day, finding a book on immortality missing, he goes to search for it and in so doing discovers a great truth. Meghan Mulkerin, Schuler Books, Grand Rapids, Michigan
Awesome book I still remember

I found this book by chance when I was in about 3rd grade at the local library and it has always stuck out in my mind. The illustrations are beautiful and the story was very interesting. I know I'll give it to my children when I have my own and everyone should do the same.
Wonderful Book. Beware, however, of the "ancient child"

My son (8 years old) and I found this amazing book at our Public Library. He was so delighted with the illustrations that he sat himself right down with the book and was completely enthralled...until he came to the page where the illustration of the "Ancient Child" appears. He was so completely shocked by itthat he didn't want to check to book out to take home! (and he isn't a child that scares easily). So use a little bit of caution when reading this to your young ones. As for older children and, of course, the children who happen to be parents as well, this book is just incredible.

Thanks, Gary, for the chance to look and feel better and younger. Your advice is easy to follow and makes sense to me. I may not live forever but as long as I live I plan to feel and look as good as I can
