People everywhere revere images and stories of religious figures--from Buddha and Jesus to Kuan Yin and the Virgin of Guadalupe--to remind themselves of the spiritual dimensions of life. But whether raised in a religious tradition or not, many people are mystified by spiritual icons from other cultures. This gift book for all seasons provides essential information about 27 figures from the world's wisdom traditions in a beautiful and lively graphic format--an antidote to the contemporary climate of religious discord.
This is a total winner. It's fun to read and beautifully done. Packed with cool things we should all know about world religions, and a "must-read" for kids!

Love this beautiful little book

I really love this little book. For starters, the artwork is great, crackles with energy and almost leaps off the page - it's really compelling. And the prose is simple, sweet, direct, playful, and in very little space gives an informative overview of each Holy Star. I'm pretty well informed where it comes to world religions, and there's so much here that I didn't know. But better yet, this would be a wonderful book for children - I'm already compiling a list of parents to gift this to their child. I can't imagine a better primer for children that supports the imperative of CO-EXISTENCE among the religious and spiritual beliefs of the world. Ms. Edwards writes, and draws, from a clear and compassionate foundation of understanding and acceptance.
Learn with a Smile!

When I first saw this book, I smiled... of course, what a wonderful way to introduce the "Stars" of the many religions of the world not only to children, but a quick and fun review for adults. Another creative effort to spread understanding in this world is always welcomed and especially when it puts a smile on your face! Love this book! Fun and informative.
Fast, effective survey of religions and their "Stars:

I am a great fan of graphic books that explain things to me. I find that I'm able to get to the heart of the matter quickly due to the combination of words and pictures. Holy Stars more than met my expectations. The pen and ink drawings were imaginative, informative and even inspiring. Each religious/spiritual personality was presented in a unique way that seemed totally appropriate to their tradition. Although I like to consider myself spiritually well informed, Holy Stars both introduced me to new material or expanded on material that I had had some exposure to in the past. My grandchildren (from 9 to 15) have all received a copy from me and all sent back enthusiastic endorsements. This is a book that I will return to with relish over the years.
