I received my last order within 2 days. I was pleasantly surprised. I have loaned this book out to several people and all have been so grateful for its contents & the help it has been to them in dealing with a spouse or child that has a drug addiction. I hope you keep carrying it. I have referred several people to your site. Previously, I had tried to get the book other places, without any success. Thank you for carrying a book that is helping so many people.-LindaHold on to Hope-Help is terrific! I think that it is of such a general help to such a broad spectrum of people that I surely hope it will be available to as many people as possible-in or out of the Church.-Vaughn J. FeatherstoneHold on to Hope brings to each of us the merging of addiction principles with the necessity of including spiritual help and healing in the total healing process. This book should be in every home.-Leon PoVey, Chairman of the National Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Prevention CommitteeHold on to Hope has been a life saver! I strongly recommend it for anyone who has dealt with or is dealing with a loved one with addictions. It has given me the courage to show tough love to my 18-year-old son with scripture references to back it up which helped me not feel like such a mean mom. It also has shown me that some of my behavior was codependent and how that wasn't helping the situation one bit! My family isn't out of the woods yet ... by a long shot! But I feel that with my scriptures and this book, I will see this through with courage and HOPE!- Nancy JessopMany of us will find our greatest challenge is learning how to love and to help someone who has strayed into addiction. In Hold on to Hope, I share simple gospel principles that can act as resources in dealing with ourselves and others when addiction strikes our families.-Dr. Rick H., Hidden Treasures InstituteHidden Treasures Institute (HTI) is a nonprofit volunteer corporation. I found this book to be an outstanding resource for learning how to deal with a relative who is an addict. It explains the emotional effects of addiction and shows how family members become "co-dependents" and harm themselves in their reaction to the addict's behavior. It then explains the most effective ways to deal with the problem from an LDS perspective. It is written in a very clear and coherent style and is extremely readable. The many personal stories and examples were extremely valuable. Each chapter explains a principle supported with scriptures and statements from General Authorities, gives examples from personal stories, lists specific steps to apply the principle and then follows up with a concise summary of the chapter. Besides learning how to deal with my addict brother and help my co-dependent parents, I found the book, especially the chapters on love, to be a very valuable resource for me to improve my relationship with my own wife and children.
Principles apply when dealing with all levels of sin/sinners

Very helpful to distinguish between applying the Christ-like love found in the story of the Good Samaritan OR the Christ-like love found in the story of the Prodigal Son. I probably got more out of it than the other reviewer because I attended a class by Dr. Rick which helped fill in some gaps.
Quite helpful but not complete.

Helpful suggestion and thoughts. Specific tactics and options to try. Important help and good basis for family discussion. Examples and stories help to replace feelings of isolation and despair with feelings of hope and encouragement. In the end not a total solution. Spiritual principles of prayer, meditation, fasting, endurance and showing love are still required.
