Great Road Trip Story

I received this book as a gift and then purchaged one for a friend. If you are a roadside history nut, or like travel stories, this is the book for you. Going topless, the car that is, just added to the difficulty of this cross country tour and the fact that Alyce was at one time afraid to drive, well what can I say, her spirited will to not give up inspired me to hit the road! She also included the web address to some real oddball, off the beatin path resturants and locations. A fun story.

what to do til you can go yourself

If you can't leave today, get this book! A gutsy, funny, entertaining read for both men and women. An unusual journey and a good writer. Loved it, bought copies for gifts!

I loved this book! I live with a bad case of perpetual wanderlust, so this was right up my alley! Written as if I were in the passenger seat the whole time! I could feel the weather, and all of the emotions...and I am a fearless traveler! This was a can't-put-it-down read!

best road trip book ever

until i can get out on the road to do my own trip...this book had it all. it's a wonderful "pulse-taking" of America after 9-11 and there is great (and specific!) travel info BUT this book gives great insight into human motivation. there isn't a spiritual word in it but it's a spiritual work. exciting, funny, touching.
