Are you expecting short term results or is your focus on eternity? Luis Palau challenges us to look beyond short term "fixes" and instead focus on living a God-driven life. In ten chapters Palau and his co-author Steven Halliday guide you through making decisions between "life's good" and "God's best". Will you choose pleasure, or happiness? Sex or love? Relief or peace? Activity or significance? Through personal stories from both Palau's life and the lives of many people he's touched through his festivals he illustrates the trade-offs in each choice. At the beginning of each chapter there's a bulleted list comparing the two options. For example in chapter 1 "A Festival in Your Heart" the choice is between pleasure and happiness and the bullets under pleasure are: external, sensory, fleeting, solitary, limited capacity. The bullets under happiness are: "internal, wholistic (sic), enduring, shared, and boundless capacity. The rest of each chapter goes on to give examples of each way of life and at the end of every chapter is a list of main points with references to specific verses in the Bible. If you've been feeling restless and wanting to know more about living a God-driven life, this book gives good examples of what that means. Palau writes in an engaging fashion and his passion for bringing as many people to the Lord as possible leaps from almost every page. If you've ever seen him speak, you can almost hear his voice in your head as you read. I'm sure this book will be picked up by many Christians, I'd like to suggest that it would make a great read for seekers as well.
