Since they almost just got married, have a beautiful home in upstate New York, and don't have any children to disrupt their blissful marriage, Karen and Tom Krupp are content. But one day, when Tom gets home, he discovers that Karen is gone-her car is gone, and it appears like she departed quickly. She even abandoned her purse, which included her phone and ID.

The cops are at the door to take Tom to the hospital where his wife has been taken when there is a knock at the door. She was speeding through the sketchiest part of town when she had a car accident and lost control.

Karen had a concussion and a few cuts as a result of the collision.
