A Mathematical Delight

This delightful rhyming story tells the tale of a child counting the baby hedgehogs she spies in her garden. She finds "two on the ledge and three white ones behind the hedge". As the number accumulates towards the end she wonders what will happen to this "horde of hibernators" as they awaken in the spring. The imagination of children will be sparked as they ponder this query. The illustrations are done in watercolor and ink and exquisitely depict the text. The language is well-chosen, descriptive and enriching. This book is wonderful for problem solving when children determine how many hedgehogs will be in her garden. A must have for any primary teacher!
