A positive and affirming celebration of differences, diversity, and individuality through a close look at hair of all colors, textures, and styles. How do you wear your hair -- braided with beads, blowing in the breeze, or short as short can be? In this lively look at locks, Virginia Kroll shows us that no matter how you wear it, hair is an important part of you. Hair is our most versatile feature and kids everywhere have created their own unique styles. Exquisite paintings of kids from many cultures show us the beauty, splendor, and wonder of all kinds of hairstyles for all kinds of kids from around the world.
An excellent book for stimulating conversation on diversity

Hats Off To Hair is an excellent book to read to a group of children in order to stimulate conversations on diversity. Kroll identifies numerous hairstyles for a variety of different ethnic groups. The illustrations are also excellent. My only criticism is that some of the names of the hairstyles and children's names are difficult to pronounce without the phonetic spelling.

Hats Off To Hair is an excellent book to use to stimulate conversation on diversity amongst a group of children. Kroll identifies hairstyles specific to numerous different ethnic groups. The children's names are also representative of their culture. The illustrations in the book are very realistic. My only criticism would be that some of the names of the children and names of the hairstyles are difficult to pronounce without the phonetic spelling.
