This autobiography is about an American family's experiences living and working in India. James Glenn represented International Harvester in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Over his four years there he sold imported IH construction and farm equipment and trucks. He also worked closely with local Indian managers to develop sales and service dealers for the new, locally-made IH farm tractors. As such, he contributed to India's mechanization in its "Green Revolution" which made India self-sufficient in food grains. He and his family lived "on the economy" as the Indians did. Gwenneth Glenn includes her perspective as a wife and mother, the M'em Sahib, responsible for the household servants and our daily living. Her many letters to her parents back in the U.S., also included, describes many large and small issues she faced in this third-world country.
