Excellent

I took Networking Essentials in college. The course did not cover troubleshooting or support. Thanks to this book, I now have a clearer understanding on how to provide customer support to network users. The price was well worth it for a used book.

A decent book for the beginner

I used this book for a networking class I took at a local community college. I actually thought the book was pretty good. The author does a good job of making the topics easy to read and understand. In addition, he uses a lot of "real world" examples. While the book doesn't go overly in-depth, it does cover quite a bit of information. I give it 4 stars.

Great tool for network techs and trainers.

I have been teaching networking courses for 4 years now and this is the first network support book that I found covers all the bases for me. An excellent and detailed look at how networking works and how to solve problems related to network traffic, network configuration, cabling, security, and documentation. This is the first book I've seen that tackles both protocol analysis and no-nonsense operating system configuration issues. I've used it in my network support class and students find it easy to read and well-explained.
