Suprise

This is the book that got me started on my recent Billie Livingston kick. I had never heard of her but it was recommended to me by someone whose taste I admire. Frankly a mother/daughter setup didn't appeal to me all that much. But by the middle of the second page I was locked in for a very enjoyable ride. Insightful, honest, funny, poignant, and never a moment of self-consciousness or contrived quirkiness -- a home run that I still think about.
