Based on some of the best-loved VeggieTales videos, this clever collection of bedtime fun shares important, reassuring lessons that every child should know. Filled with fun, colorful, engaging art... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Some of you might recognise these stories from the TV shows. They're classic Veggie Tales and wonderful. That said, there are a couple of things I should mention. First, there are several stories in this book, each only 3 or 4 pages long. That means there are few pictures and a lot of writing. This is not the book for a child that really enjoys the visuals, but rather for the child that enjoys listening to stories. If your child prefers to look at the pictures with only a few paragraphs per picture, go for individual editions of Veggie Tales stories. Cindy Kenney (the author or this book)has some wonderful other Veggie Tales books out there. Also, while each story has a positive message and tells a simple story, it is primarily a vehicle for the character to sing a Veggie Tale song. The trouble is, if you don't know the music, it's hard to sing along. That is to say, only lyrics are provided. So, you can either make up your own tune, sing the song if you remember how it goes from the videos or just say the words. I would have preferred to see a music line here, even if it was only at the end and this book lost a star for lack of it. For the record, here is the listing of stories included. 1. Where is God When I'm Scared? (3 pages, 2 pictures) 2. Madam Blueberry Learns to be Thankful (3 pages, 2 pictures) 3. King George and his Duckies (5 pages, 4 pictures) 4. Junior Learns How Important It is to Tell the Truth (3 pages, 3 pictures) 5. Stand Up for What you Believe (6 pages, 3 pictures) 6. Lyle and the Kindly Vikings (3 pages, 3 pictures) 7. The Grapes of Nice? (3 pages, 3 pictures) 8. Love Your Neighbor (2 pages, 2 pictures) The nice thing about this book is that you can read one story and talk about it, put a bookmark in the book and leave it. The bad thing is that the stories, since they're short and primarily include a song, don't have complex stories that might engage a child like, say the Mess Detective series, for example. Age-wise, this book was in my child's kindergarten library. While my 3 year old was interested, the lack of pictures limited his attention for it. Also, 7 year old might enjoy reading this to himself (with help), especially if he knows the videos and songs.
Wonderful addition to Home Library

My 5 year old and 1 year old love this book. The stories are short, and a sing along song is incuded in each story. My boys love singing the songs, and the stories relax them at bedtime. Highly recommended.
Kids love this!
