Garfield gets children interested in reading... and solves the case of the mysterious mummy!

Although the Garfield movies were generally panned by reviewers, Garfield the comic strip will probably be around for several generations. That sleeping, lazy, lasagna-loving fat cat is beloved by the young and the young at heart! In Garfield and the Mysterious Mummy, creator Jim Davis allows author Jim Kraft to expand Garfield's adventures, this time in a museum. Garfield, Odie, and Jon learn about the Curse of the Nose of Ahmose, resulting in a restless mummy interested in getting his nose reunited with his death mask. Garfield, of course, quickly ends up in the thick of things! The 78 page chapter book is a great book for beginning readers, with illustrations and verbal variety. Factoid of note -- there's an illustration of the extinct dodo on display (resulting in Odie being called a "dodo dog"). In fact, there are no stuffed dodos in existence on this planet. All that exists of this interesting creature are a foot and a head, and some skeletal remains. Of course, there aren't a lot of talking cats, either!

Garfield and the mysterious mummy is a reallly good book.My rating of this book is a 5. I liked it because it's a good mystery book and its funny! The book is about Garfield and Odie when they accidentally get left in the meuseum one night. Then strange things start to happen. So Garfield and Odie try to get through the night while being chased by the mummy or a thief trying to steal priceless artifacts. I like the book but I wouldn't recommend it for preschoolers.It would be a good book for 3rd 4th or 5th graders.

Great book for your young Garfield fan

These are great chapter books for your early reader Garfield fan. My son loves them, I just wish there were more in the series. Unfortunately there are only four books in the series, so once they have read these four that's all there is.
